Sapphire PURE CrossFire PC-AM2RD580

Memory Performance:

The PC-AM2RD580 performs better than the ECS KA3 MVP we previously tested, mostly due to the fact we were able to get Sapphire's board stable at tighter memory timings. However, it does lose out to the Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe WiFi Edition, which is probably because of the lack of command rate adjustment. The AM2 boards generally kick the arse of Intel Core 2 boards when it comes to sheer memory throughput, and the Sapphire is no exception.

Disk Performance:

The USB 2.0 tests were done using an ATA133 160GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 hard drive (model number: 6L160PO) using the same 8MB zone test enclosed in an Icy Box USB 2.0 hard drive caddy. We recorded the average read speeds in all cases.


Sapphire performs as well as, even ever so slightly better than ECS and Intel boards and performing on par with the Asus.
